On September 24 -25, 2014, Facility directors from across the state of Alabama will come together for the first ever Alabama Facilities Directors & Constructors Conference. The event will be held at the Montgomery Marriott Prattville Hotel and Conference Center at Capitol Hill.
“The goal of the conference is for the association members to provide facilities directors with information they need to succeed in their day-to-day practice,” said ABC of Alabama President Jay Reed. “Facilities directors really act as a general contractor in so many duties they perform on a day-to-day basis, so having our association share best practices with them can only better both parties.”
This year’s conference will be the first time that facilities directors within the state of Alabama have had their own conference. In years past, the meeting has traditionally included facilities directors from all around the Southeast.
“We all have common challenges, so this will be a great opportunity for everyone to get their issues on the table and see if there’s a way we can advance some of those issues,” said Tim Leopard, assistant vice president for construction for the University of Alabama. “That’s the big benefit of holding a conference just for facilities directors in the state of Alabama. We all have to do business in a very similar manner, so we can identify common solutions that we can all work to advance.”
“I’m looking forward to this conference because this isn’t an opportunity we’ve had before,” Leopard said. “This conference will provide a great opportunity for networking, as well as a platform for us to discuss and identify common problems or challenges that we all have in common that we could work together to solve,” said Leopard. “It’s also just a great opportunity for people to discuss and share best practices.”
